The Trust Factor

I've had two root canals. The first time I swear the dentist never told me I had to come back for a crown. She swears she did! By the time I found out, my dental insurance was gone and it cost me a fortune.

The second time the experience was horrible. The dentist told me I needed another root canal because of the pain I was having after the first one.

I went to a specialist who told me I didn't need it.

It's just really hard to trust them after bad experiences.

We have found a fabulous dentist for my daughter though. Her former dentist said she would need braces and the new one explained why she wouldn't. He also really listens. What a relief it is to find such a great dentist.

If only he treated adults too!

The trust factor is huge when choosing a dentist

Hi There, Im so sorry about your root canal. There's nothing worse than being misled.

You bring up a great point regarding communication. It is so important to find a dentist who takes the time to listen.

Dentists who explain what they are recommending, answer all your questions and then give you a written treatment plan (including the cost) have the right idea.

No one enjoys root canals especially when they may not have been needed! I hope your tooth feels better now.

So happy that you like your daughter's dentist! Thank goodness you have a little faith restored. You could ask him to recommend a dentist for you. Good dentists know other good dentists!

Whatever you do, don't give up on all dentists...there are a lot more like your daughter's dentist out there.
