Teeth Grinding Guard
Do you need teeth grinding protection?
Wearing a teeth grinding guard is the only way to prevent damage from this destructuve habit.
Grinding teeth is not good for your health and since most do it while sleeping, hard to
control. But, you can protect your teeth...
Teeth grinding and clenching can lead to loss of enamel, receding gum line, abfraction, sensitive teeth,
poor occlusion, fractured teeth, sore jaws, headaches, neck aches, and ear aches.
Benefits:
Wearing a teeth grinding guard is one of the best and easiest things you can do for your dental health. Look at the problems caused by teeth grinding and
clenching, and the dental treatment they need.
To avoid these problems, wear a gaurd and enjoy a more restful night.
- Loss of enamel:
losing a little enamel is not so bad but afer years of grinding enamel away you will need a crown...or several crowns.
- Receding gum line:
Once gums recede, root surfaces are exposed. Tooth roots don't look pretty, are sensitive, and get cavities easy. If gums recede too far,
you will need a gum graft to relpace lost gum tissue that was supporting and protecting your teeth.
- Poor occlusion:
Teeth that are worn down from grinding don't fit together like they should. Worn down teeth don't function as well or look as nice as teeth
that are not worn down. Poor occlusion from grinding is not easily fixed. Full mouth reconstruction is an option but the cost and time required is a deal
breaker for most.
- Abfraction:
Abfractions are grooves or notches near your gum line. Abfractions that get too big are sensitive and need dental fillings.
- Fractured teeth:
Fractured teeth need either fillings or crowns. Some fractured teeth need root canals too.
- Sensitive teeth:
Teeth that are worn down can be sensitive and exposed roots from receded gums are also sensitive in many cases.
Fluoride
or toothpaste for
sensitive teeth
will
help.
- Sore jaws, neck aches, headaches, and ear aches:
These are more complicated and can have many causes and contributing factors. Wearing a teeth grinding guard may not totally cure them but should provide some relief.
When you compare the cost and time in a dental chair you will see the benefit of wearing a night guard. The best news: this dental treatment doesn't require
needles or drilling:)
