Palor gums and mouth ulcer
by Cas

The gum line where it meets 2 of my teeth looks bluish black, gums seem a bit paler too. What is this? I also have a mouth ulcer a fair bit higher up over the tooth next door and a little lump in my cheek on that side.
reply by shelly ~ admin Hi Cas, I don't know for sure. It would be best to have this looked at by your dentist.
The ulcer that is higher on your gums sounds suspiciously like a drainage fistula. These are also known as drainage tracts and sometimes look like a pimple on your gums. They can come and go.
Fistulas look white, like a blister on your gums and are a sign of infection. Infection can occur in your tooth, bone or gums. Many times fistulas don't hurt because they allow the infection to drain and this relieves the pressure and swelling caused by the infection.
Even if it doesn't hurt, it should be treated because most of them don't resolve on their own.
Infections that are left untreated continue to destroy bone and gum tissue. It is not good for your overall health to have a constant infection in your body.
I'm really not sure about the rest of your question. But both the lump in your cheek and your paler gums should be looked at
sooner rather than later. It could all be related to the same problem or two separate issues.
symptoms can come and go but the main problem will only get worse.
If you wait too long, you could end up losing a tooth.
Your problem could also be something entirely different that what I have described. Either way... knowing for sure will give you some peace of mind.
Go to your dentist...soon :)
Thank you for writing and
good luck,
