Is $18,000 for top and bottom implants too high ?

Shelly , I told a friend about dental implants so he made an appointment and went to a dentist that told him for top and bottom with 4 screws each would cost a little over $20,000.00!!

For gentlemen like me and my friend this is unheard of! Could not believe the cost??!!

Does this sound about the average for full denture implants of top and bottom?

He said originally they would only come with two screws in the bottoms but for two extra screws (4 total bottom) would be an extra $8,000.00.

That figure put the cost just a little over $20,000.00 total for top and bottom implants??

Hi Ronald, That is a lot of money. I really can't say what is average for your area. But, I have heard clients say their upper and lower implant dentures cost about the same as a car.

You may be in the ballpark with that figure.

Replacing an entire set of teeth with implant supported dentures is quite an undertaking.

It involves many appointments and requires a skilled dentist's surgical expertise, expensive equipment and substantial dental lab fees.

Implant dentures are not for everyone but are a great solution for some. I have not heard anyone say they regret the decision. It is an investment in your quality of life and health. They can be used and enjoyed everyday.

A second opinion wouldn't hurt but be careful choosing a dentist based on price alone. I'm not an expert on how many implants (screws) are ideal for supporting dentures. Obviously more support is better than less support:)

You can learn a lot from talking to a couple different dentists, reading, and asking others who have had this procedure done.

I wish these dentures were more affordable and I wish dental insurance providers would be more helpful in paying for them. They are so much better than traditional dentures.

Maybe someday :)
