Dental Implant Problems?
the cost of a dental implant and other annoyances...
Dental implant problems are minor compared to other alternatives for replacing teeth, but worth considering before deciding to have tooth implant surgery. Tooth implants have an
amazingly high success rate and are a great way to replace a missing tooth but are not the fastest, easiest, or least expensive way.
Decisions, decisions...
I am so impressed with this
dental innovation
that it is hard to
imagine any problem that would be a deal breaker for a person considering dental implants.
But, if I were in your shoes, trying to decide
if tooth implant surgery is the right choice, I would want to know every possible downside and disadvantage before going forward.
Here are some things that might annoy you...
- Cost of a Dental implant
-Because of the high price of implants they are not an option for some. One or two implants are somewhat doable. But, in many cases, several implants are needed
to support a bridge or a denture and replace several teeth.
These involved cases require a significant financial commitment. If you can afford them, they
are a great investment in
your health,
appearance, and quality of life. When it is all said and done, clients rarely regret their investment of time or money.
- Dental insurance for implants
If you have dental implant insurance, you will probably find it does not provide complete coverage. Most dental plans cover only one part of the process. The less
expensive part.
It's better than nothing, but it would be nice if dental insurance was more helpful in covering the cost of a dental implant.
- Time
Most tooth implants take 4-6 months from start to finish. Compared to a dental bridge that takes two to three weeks. We would all prefer faster results, but when
it comes to replacing a tooth...patience is a virtue.
- Cleaning
Because of their size and shape, It's more difficult to clean around a dental implant but important to prevent inflammation and gum disease.
Using a
waterpik
or other helpful dental care products in addition to a toothbrush and floss may be necessary to keep your gums healthy around your dental implant.
- Dental implant infection It is still possible for the gums or bone surrounding a dental implant to become infected. A dental implant infection can sometimes cause pain and result in the loss of the implant. Dental implant failure is not likely but does happen.
Choosing the right
dental implant dentist
will decrease the chance of dental implant problems.
Dental implant problems are almost always outweighed by their benefits. I don't hear many regrets from clients with dental implants. They are very happy to have a beautiful smile and teeth that function like they're supposed to.
A clear understanding will help you feel confident about this important decision.
