Dental Care Products
Dental product reviews for every stage from toddler dental care to elderly dental care
Dental care products are an important key to your dental health. Why? Because you use them every day, for your whole life.
Twice yearly dental appointments
are important too, but the battle against gum disease and tooth decay is won or lost everyday in your bathroom.
Your health depends on quality
dental care products combined with good technique.
Toothbrush
A toothbrush is something we all use everyday.
You use one....right?
Good:)
There are three keys to good brushing: toothbrush, toothpaste, and good technique.
I have always loved Oral B Toothbrushes but the brand doesn't matter as much as the way you use it:) Choose one with soft bristles that is not too big for you.
Want to get more out of your toothbrush?
Take a quick look at these
brushing instructions.
Very simple changes in the way you brush make a huge difference.
Toothpaste Brands
Could there be any more choices? Doesn't seem like it, but they just keep coming. There are flouride free toothpaste for babies and toddlers, or brands like Biotene and Sensodyne that are sometimes needed for elderly dental care. Maybe you are looking for the best teeth whitening toothpaste? Just take a look at these
categories
and pick the one that best fits your needs. Always look for the ADA seal of approval on toothpaste and all dental care products.
Best Electric Toothbrush
Electric toothbrushes
are more popular than ever and have improved the dental health of many. Electric toothbrushes make cleaning your teeth
easier but still require good technique.
Be sure you are brushing teeth
properly with your regular toothbrush, then make the switch to electric and give your cleaning power a boost.
There are alot of styles and a very big price range to choose from.
Sonicare
is a
very good electric toothbrush and
Oral-B Braun
is another favorite.
Which one is the best electric toothbrush? Here is my
electric toothbrush review.
Electric toothbrush heads need to be replaced every three or four months.
Here's why.
Best Dental Floss
Flossing feels so good once you get it but can hurt so bad until you do. Flossing is important for good dental health. Preventing gum disease is harder to do
without floss.
If you havn't been flossing regularly
don't start the day before your dental appointment, your gums will be sore and swollen. The day after you see your dental hygienist is the perfect time to
start flossing.
In the meantime...follow these
flossing instructions
and be sure to use the
best dental floss
for you. My favorite is woven dental floss but Glide dental floss is a favorite for many of my clients.
Don't give up on
flossing it's not just about your teeth anymore.
Water Floss
Hate to floss? You are not alone. Your hygienist may never give up trying to inspire you to use dental floss but all hygienists know flossing is not for everyone.
Oral irrigators like the
Waterpik flosser,
hydrofloss, or showerfloss are good for the floss haters of the world. They work even better than floss in
some situations.

water floss products.
Sonicare AirFloss
Airfloss is the latest and possibly greatest floss alternative. Philips Sonicare recently introduced
AirFloss.
This Product is not as messy as water flossers and is a good addition to your routine if you don't like to floss the old fashioned way.
AirFloss and Sonicare electric toothbrushes are perfect for dental braces care.
Act Mouthwash, Crest ProHealth, and Listerine
Mouthwash doesn't cure gum disease or prevent cavities alone but is a good addition to brushing and flossing if you need it.
If you are doing fine without
it....no signs of gum disease and no cavities or at least none for a long time, you probably don't need to use mouthwash. On the other hand, if you still
get cavities and have some gum disease symptoms using mouthwash can help.
Fluoride
mouthwash remineralizes or hardens your enamel and prevents tooth decay. Stannous fluoride has been shown to decrease bacteria that cause gum disease.
Listerine mouthwash
tastes terrible but kills bacteria better than most OTC rinses.
Act fluoride rinse
is perfect for preventing decay.
Crest Pro Health is recommended for gum disease symptoms. I prefer Listerine as a periodontal disease treatment but if you can't stand the taste...use Pro Health.
Teeth help you eat, talk,
laugh, and smile....some of my favorite things and probably yours too:)
Using appropriate dental care products for every stage of life from toddler dental care to elderly dental care will help you
prevent gum disease,
avoid cavities and fillings,
improve your health
and keep doing some of your favorite things.
